BARANGAY INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BIMS) PILOT IMPLEMENTATION: FOR SMARTER LOCAL GOVERNANCE
DILG-Aklan, through the Aklan Provincial Governance Resource Center (APRLGRC), successfully conducted the pilot implementation of the Barangay Information Management System (BIMS) for 17 target barangays across the province of Aklan at the Latte Coffee Café Conference Room, Andagao, Kalibo, Aklan.
BIMS is one of DILG-Aklan’s digital breakthroughs under its “Paghutuhot” Program that aide efficient service delivery in local governments.
This activity was participated in by the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers from the 17 LGUs of Aklan and Barangay Secretaries from the pilot barangays.
The Barangay Information Management System is a suite of digital subsystems designed to improve barangay efficiency by automating previously manual processes. These include inhabitant profiling, creation of barangay website, management of katarungang pambarangay, and the issuance of clearances and certifications, among others. Importantly, BIMS is offered to all barangays at no cost.
This initiative marks a significant step toward building smarter, data-driven, and more responsive local governance in Aklan. With the collective efforts of our LGU partners, barangay officials, and key stakeholders, the pilot implementation was successfully carried out — paving the way for a stronger, more digitalized barangay governance framework.
